Outokumpu thanks its shareholders for approving the donation of 1 million euros to relief work in Ukraine

Outokumpu’s shareholders have today approved in the Annual General Meeting the suggestion by our Board of Directors to donate up to 1,000,000 euros to support relief efforts in Ukraine and neighboring countries. Half of this sum will be donated to UNICEF and half to Red Cross.

“We are thankful for our shareholders for their decision,” says President and CEO Heikki Malinen. “The Russian attack on Ukraine has shocked us all, and our thoughts are with the Ukrainian people.”  

Outokumpu has stopped sales and deliveries to Russia as well as procuring recycled steel. All remaining business connections related to Russia are to be stopped as soon as possible. In accordance with our business and sustainability strategy, we have decided to severe the remaining connections to a country that does not honor international laws or human rights.
